A 1983 road test of the Z1000R-II, a Lawson-inspired superbike on the 998 cc DOHC four. The writer praised the smooth, torquey engine and strong brakes, but criticised handling that became unstable above about 70 mph and low ground clearance that grounded the pipes and sidestand in corners. Racer-style replicas with cut-down dualseats, GPz-style tanks and large iron discs were limited editions with no numbered run given.
